The Barge Lady Presents… Cook & Cruise through Italy!

Culinary & Wine Adventure Highlights

The Barge Lady and The International Kitchen are pleased to announce a new travel experience appealing to gastronomes who appreciate the pleasures of food, wine, and culture.

“COOK AND CRUISE” highlights the top options in Italy for hands-on cooking lessons coupled with the pleasures of barge cruising for the complete Italian holiday. The Barge Lady’s newest vessel, La Bella Vita, is a First Class boat offering up to 20 lucky guests a mesmerizing week of art and beauty through Venice along the River Po, and when combined with a cooking vacation to the Chianti wine estate of the famed Antinori wine producers through the International Kitchen, becomes the Italian trip of a lifetime! Dates for the 2015 season are still available for this exciting tour featuring the best of the Italian landscape, waterways, and cuisine.

Who is The International Kitchen?

The popularity of culinary travel has spawned many imitators, but it was Karen Herbst who pioneered the concept of “cooking vacations” back in 1994. Today, the exclusive culinary travel company offers more than 100 cooking vacations and 50 options for one-day cooking classes throughout Italy, France, Spain, and beyond. All of their trips promise a top quality, authentic experience with the locals, and each and every trip is vetted by their staff. But with so many options, which trip should you choose? The staff at The International Kitchen will always gladly help you pick out the perfect trip, but here’s one we’re dreaming about today.

Antinori’s Noble Tuscany

The Antinori family has been producing wines in Tuscany for more than 700 years.  Their “Chianti-style” Tignanello was once marketed as a lowly “vino da tavola,” or table wine, but today it’s considered one of the original, and best, Super Tuscans. See this stunning winery for yourself, and so much more.

Culinary & Wine Adventure Highlights

* Stay in the lovely Fonte de’ Medici resort in the heart of the Chianti Classico region just a short drive from Florence and Siena

* Discover the basic tenets of Tuscan cuisine, and learn dishes from a Michelin-rated restaurant, with the chefs of Fonte de’ Medici Cooking School

* Tour Antinori’s new wine cellars, which were designed in harmony with the natural landscape to make them appear ‘invisible’

* Experience other wine estate tours and tastings, including a stop in the historical Antinori wine cellars in Badia a Passignano (The Abbey of Passignano)

* Enjoy full-day excursions to some of the most important towns in all of Tuscany, including Siena and San Gimignano

Complete Your Dream Vacation with a Cruise on La Bella Vita!

A barge cruise on La Bella Vita offers the ultimate experience in Italian immersion and indulgence.

*Float in and out of Venice, crisscrossed by canals, with the Venetian lifestyle in small fishing ports and colorful villages on full display.

*Cruise through the Po River Valley, where barge guests will enjoy a personal introduction to family owned wineries and villas, as well as Renaissance palaces and churches.

*Gastronomes and oenophiles are especially welcome, as gourmet meals and hand selected pours are enjoyed daily.

For those intrigued by the truly different experience of seeing Italy from the water, we invite you to the beautiful life…exclusively aboard La Bella Vita.

Honeymoon Registries

What does a bride and groom really need? I recall planning my wedding gift registry and running around stores like Target  with an inventory scanning gun cluelessly zapping items that we couldn’t live without.  On other days, I’d browse the internet and choose items off websites that I thought were cool and something newly married couples should have.

Now that I’m married and have chipped most of the dishware we’ve received and baby bottles have conquered the martini set’s territory,  I wish I had known about honeymoon registries.

A honeymoon registry is just like it sounds-a website where guests can contribute funds towards a couple’s honeymoon.  The happy couple get to choose gifts like airfare, a romantic dinner, spa or diving and post these wishes on their customized registry site. What a splendid idea to create a customized registry for your honeymoon that allows your wedding guests to buy you gift experiences! Components of that magical honeymoon you and your fiancé dream about can now be a reality. Guests appreciate it too! A registry allows couples to break their honeymoon down into gift components of various prices so that guests can find a gift item that fits their budget. No more toasters and long return lines!

With a Santa Barbara Travel registry, your family and friends will have access to your honeymoon wish list to help you finance this unforgettable trip. Whether it’s a couple’s massage for two or monetary funds to offset your airfare, your every wish and desire can be added to your custom registry. When the time comes to liquidate your honeymoon registry, you can cash in or opt for the added features that were gifted to you.  Call Santa Barbara Travel and lets get started planning your memorable honeymoon trip today…805-966-3116
