American Airlines Eliminating Carry-on Bag Restriction

By July 26, 2018June 2nd, 2020No Comments
Starting on September 5, 2018, American Airlines will remove the bag restriction from their short haul Basic Economy fares. What this means is that travelers who travel on Basic Economy fares, regardless of the purchase date, will be allowed a personal item and a carry-on bag like other Main Cabin fares.

Those traveling on Basic Economy fares before September 5, 2018 will continue to follow the current fare rules for all Basic Economy travel within the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. This means that the BE bag restriction, applicable checked bag fees, and $25 gate service fee will continue to be enforced through September 4, 2018.

You can also still earn American Airlines AAdvantage award miles and elite qualifying credits at a reduced rate.
