The ‘traditional cruise’ is slowly losing speed as a new high-tech replacement is rising up to play. The new Celebrity Edge debuted in December and according to the Travel Advisors on board to witness, it did not disappoint. Here are some reasons why the new ship is rocking the boat (no pun intended): |

The Magic Carpet is a bright orange, giant movable platform on the side of the ship that has never been seen before on a cruise liner. This cantilevered, floating space is the world’s first engineering feat of its kind, and can reach heights of 13 stories above sea level. The function of the Magic Carpet changes with it’s positioning, so it’s truly a destination itself. At it’s highest point at the top of the ship, the platform becomes a dinner venue with breathtaking views of the ocean. Go down to Deck 14, it becomes an extension of the main pool area where you can book private cabanas. While on Deck 5, you will find an open-air dining experience. At the very bottom on Deck 2, the Magic Carpet turns into an extension of The Destination Gateway, where you will find a portal of in depth information about the ports of call and onshore exploration you will experience. |

Adults-Only Solarium This adults-only oasis is a glass enclosed swimming pool set with wading chairs, a hot tub, and a three-dimensional art wall that mimics the movement of the ocean. Relax and unwind with a cocktail in one of the most popular destinations on the ship. Why? Well, shall we repeat adults-only? |

Rooftop Garden This living, breathing part of the ship offers a fresh-air space for guests to enjoy a nice book, or a picnic, surrounded by live plants and ocean breezes. This urban playscape was inspired by childhood playgrounds and offers a variety of activities for all ages. Sip on a cocktail while gazing out to sea, grab a bite at the Rooftop Garden Grill, listen to the rhythm of live musical performance echoing down from treetop sculptures. You can even rival your friends, family or other guests at a game of giant chess, or catch a movie at A Taste of Film for an interactive fusion of food and film. You might catch a live band and wish to dance the night away, or just lose yourself in the beauty of the garden – perfect for daydreaming. |
