Effective January 8, 2025, U.S. citizens traveling to the United Kingdom for tourism, business, family visits, or short-term study (up to six months) must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) prior to travel. Applications can be completed online or via the UK ETA app, with a fee of £10. The ETA is valid for multiple entries over two years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. Travelers are advised to apply at least three days before departure to ensure timely processing.
