Punta Mita, Nayarit, Mexico

Punta Mita is the ideal place that encompasses luxury, relaxation, nature’s beauty, cultural history and adventure. This picturesque city draws in the world’s elite, celebrities, niche experts and creatives from all over the world. The tranquil community offers a place to escape the daily grind and truly find yourself in a different world. You can venture to Sayulita a local laid-back surf town or down to Puerto Vallarta for a traditional meal or a night out. There are many five star resorts to choose from, all catering to their client’s every need. However two stand out among the rest.

Four Seasons Punta Mita

The Four Seasons Punta Mita, nominated as Travel + Leisure’s Best of 2018 and the new W Punta de Mita. The Four Seasons suits the classic luxury travel connoisseur. The resort sits atop a cliff, offering beautiful panoramic views, morning beachside yoga on “The Rock”, unique experiences such as watching turtles hatch and scramble towards the sea or a variety of spa and culinary experiences.

The W Punta de Mita is a must stay for those who want to spice up their lives a little. The resort holds many events with various DJs, and poolside seasonal happenings, plus a host of activities such as yoga, surf lessons, kite surfing, kayaking, and scuba diving to name a few.

W Punta de mita

Santa Barbara Travel sent Itzy Canales of @labellagypsy to experience these hotels for herself. She and her fiancé spent a few nights at each hotel experiencing the best accommodations they had to offer. At the W attention to detail was clearly displayed from the welcome drink’s tropical flavors to the 751,184 green and blue mosaic tiles along the “Camino Huichol walkway” connecting the living room to the pool area. The hotel has perfectly curated pops of color and décor that draws upon the style and history of the region. Itzy and Lupo (her fiancé) came back raving about the assortment of ceviche, the cochinita pibil pizza and shrimp tamale from Venazú — one of the incredible restaurants onsite.

Many people flock to Chevycheria, an old Chevy truck that was found on the property that the W turned into the go-to place for every kind of ceviche you could imagine, aguachiles and of course perfectly crafted margaritas.

After a few nights at the W experiencing Spice Market Punta de Mita for dinner and venturing to Sayulita for a little exploration, Itzy and Lupo traveled to the other end of Punta Mita and checked into the Four Seasons Punta Mita. The Four Seasons is secluded compared to other resorts along the beach. They took advantage of the property having every activity you could possibly want to partake in, snorkeling and scuba diving, a lazy river, a gorgeous infinity pool and cuisine options for your every desire. The hotel also set up an intimate sunset fishing experience for the couple. You can keep it simple and fish onshore as they did or partake in a private fishing charter where you can free-dive and learn fishing techniques with experts. Your bounty will be served fresh that night and prepared by the Four Seasons chefs. They concluded their trip with a final dinner at Bahía by Richard Sandoval overlooking the Pacific and their departing Mexican sunset.
