“It was truly the trip of a lifetime!” says travel advisor Kathy Reimer. Just returning from a 7-day, Star Clippers voyage, Kathy can’t stop talking about her trip to Corsica and the French Riviera. “With only 128 passengers, I felt as if I were travelling on my own, private yacht. The small size allowed us to reach these unbelievable ports and private coves that would normally only be known to locals.”

Kathy says she never saw another cruise ship during her entire trip. The small size of the 4-masted, 16-sail Star Flyer provided plenty of opportunity to actively explore areas the large ships could not enter, including nature reserves. It was possible to explore the maze of local medieval villages, and to swim in isolated, aquamarine waters without the usual cruise ship crowds.

Working out of our Ventura office, Kathy has been advising clients on cruises and destinations throughout Mexico, Hawaii, and the Caribbean for almost 30 years. “Now, I’m happy to add the French Riviera to the list!” she says.

African Travel at Santa Barbara Travel

atravelJohn Godfrey from African Travel spoke to a packed house last night at Santa Barbara Travel’s June ‘First Thursday’ event. Giving three separate presentations, John explained what it’s like to go on safari, and what to expect. He also discussed the many different options available – all the way from 4-star accommodations to tent camping, and the best locations and times to spot wildlife.

Did you see Santa Barbara Travel’s Chalk Art Drawing?

madonnari

In Italian, I Madonnari is the word for ‘street painters’. Every Memorial Day weekend, the Santa Barbara I Madonnari Street Painting Festival transforms the Santa Barbara Mission plaza. Using pastels, large-scale, colorful chalk art images are drawn on the pavement all around the Mission.

The festival benefits the Children’s Creative Project, a nonprofit arts education program of the Santa Barbara County Education Office. The Project serves 50,000 children in more than 100 schools with visual and performing arts workshops and performances throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

This is the 3rd year that Santa Barbara Travel has participated with a chalk art drawing; we are particularly proud of this year’s contribution, titled “Up”. What do you think?
